Privacy, in plain English

• Submissions. If you submit an event, business, or story, we keep what you sent us — including your name and email so we can follow up.
• Photo submissions. If you share a photo, we keep the image plus any caption, location, and date text you added, and your name and email for moderation. Approved photos appear publicly on the photo wall with the caption and location/date text; your name appears only if you checked the credit box, and your email is never shown.
• Event contact info. If an event submission includes the optional "phone for questions / registration" number, that number is published on the event page so neighbors can call — that's its purpose.
• Newsletter signups. Email address, area preferences, and the frequency you picked.
• Server logs. Standard web request logs (IP, user agent, path). We use these only to keep the site working — rate-limiting, debugging, abuse blocking.

• We don't sell your data. Ever.
• We don't share contact info with advertisers.
• We use cookie-less page-view counting (Vercel Analytics) to see which pages neighbors find useful. It doesn't identify you, store cookies, or follow you across other sites. No ad trackers, ever.
• We don't publish your name with a submission unless you check the "share my name publicly" box - and your email is only shown if you ALSO check the separate "share my email" box.

• Approved submissions (events, businesses, good news) are visible to everyone on the public site.
• Your contact info (the email and name you submitted with) is visible only to admins, unless you opted in to public attribution.
• Newsletter signups are visible only to admins. We use them only for the emails you chose: the Sunday Roundup, the weekly digest, and (if your preferences say so) instant notices for urgent posts. Nothing else - ever.

Submissions and newsletter signups stay until you ask us to remove them. Server logs are kept for ~30 days, then rotated out.

Just email us. We'll delete your newsletter subscription, any submissions tied to your email, and anything else we can find tied to you — within a few days.

• Supabase — hosts our database, authentication, and uploaded photos.
• Resend — sends our transactional and newsletter emails.
• Vercel — hosts the website itself.
• OpenStreetMap tiles — the map images on business, event, and area-picker maps load from OpenStreetMap's tile servers, which see your IP address like any image host would.
• Nominatim (OpenStreetMap geocoder) — the optional address search on submission forms sends the address you typed (plus your IP) to look up its location. No account data is ever sent.

Each provider has their own privacy policy. We use them as infrastructure, not as data partners.

If something material changes (new data we collect, new providers, etc.) we'll note it here and date it. No quiet rewrites.
